We all got a hectic life. So many things to worry about. In between all this we simply forget that we are even breathing. Nowadays part of life seems to be present on social media, rather than present for yourself in our own life. I used to be like that. Not anymore.
I have the same busy life, with an incomplete list of to do tasks. There is always something stressful going in my life, be it assignments, visa, finding a job, etc. I can choose to live a stressful life by worrying about the uncertainty or i could choose a different path. And i did so.
I do that by finding time to do things that makes me feel alive, feel like I’m living for myself, not for the company I work for (if you know what I mean). So these few daily habits help me be myself. In a way alienating me from all those pressure of social media, digital world, keeping up to date of the trends, fashion styles, living up to the societal standards etc. These are things that help me, might be different for you. Anyway there is no harm in trying out. So here they are, my soft habits.
- Morning cup of coffee
A very simple basic habit. The very first rhing I do after waking up and freshening in the morning. I make sure I get the perfect coffee to start my day. I sit somewhere near the window, embracing the cool wind coming through. And just enjoy the coffee. Nothing else. Just don’t worry about anything else.
- Music
When i say music, I don’t mean listening to high bass songs on speaker . I meant listening to calm peaceful music while doing something else. It could be cooking, planning your day ahead, doing chores, but yes music is always good. I chose the one without lyrics. That works for me. It could be different for you.
- A good shower
Yes, that’s right. A good shower with best water temp. Cleansing the body makes me feel like washing all the impurities from my life too. It’s a pedestal space and time for me to make certain decisions and clarify my priorities.
- Keeping the phone away
Oh that’s a hard one I guess. Bit, trust me, it’s the best. We have become so dependent on the screens now that it has become a part of our extended body. It was hard in the beginning, but it helps. It got succeeded in a way that I even happened to lose my phone and realized after half an hour.
- reading
This is very personal choice. It could be something that you really enjoy, or appreciates. Something that makes you forget about the rest of the world. Hopefully it is not social media for you. For me it is reading. I like to read fiction. I take books from public library and their timeline to return gives me an initial push to start reading. But everytime I eventually find myself not able to keep the book back.
